Japan Expected to Approve Integrated Fixed-Mobile Service in mid-2007
March 03, 2007
According to a Nikkei report, integrated fixed-line and mobile phone services are expected to gain official approval in Japan, as a subcommittee of Japan's Telecommunications Council recommended. Such services will come with a 060-prefixed number, expected to be released in summer 2007 at the earliest. Subscribers will be able to use their mobile phone for fixed-line service at home and as mobile phones on the move. Fixed-line operators such as NTT East and NTT West will be able to tap the wireless service market should the service be approved. Also, subscribers will be able to save considerably on their communication bills.
